The
Waimakariri District Plan has been prepared under the Resource
Management Act 1991 in conjunction with the community. The
District Plan identifies issues considered important in relation
to sustainable management of the environment. To manage these
issues a number of objectives, policies and methods, including
rules, have been developed which relate to land use and subdivision.
The Waimakariri District Plan became operative on 28 November
2005.
The District Plan is constantly evolving and under going review to meet the changing
needs, demands and resources of the region. These changes occur both through
Council initiated and Private Plan Changes. These Plan Changes are publicly notified
and are also available on-line.
Hardcopies
of the District Plan are available for viewing at Kaiapoi,

Disclaimer
Whilst
every effort has been made to ensure that this on-line version
of the District plan is accurate and up-to-date, it should
not be regarded as the definitive version of the District
Plan. In addition, as the Planning Maps use colour to depict
zonings and highlight features, they should not be printed
without a key also being printed at the same time to avoid
misinterpretation of the colours.
