of Interest
For a Trustee for Te Kohaka o Tuhaitara Trust |

| Te Kohaka o Tuhaitara Trust was settled by the
Waimakariri District Council and Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu for the
purpose of administering the Tuhaitara Coastal Reserve and the
Tutaepatu Lagoon in North Canterbury. The land administered by
the Trust extends north from the Waimakariri River to Waikuku
Beach.
The Trust has six voluntary trustees, of whom three are appointed
by the Waimakariri District Council and three are appointed
by Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu. The trustees meet as required (usually
monthly). The Trust has developed and is currently implementing
the Reserve Management Plan for the area. The Reserve Management
Plan includes a long-term vision to restore the area back to
its natural state.
The Council is seeking expressions of interest from people
with the necessary skills and experience to be a Council appointed
trustee of this Trust. The successful applicant will be someone
who has a strong interest in the protection, restoration and
promotion of natural habitats and who is interested in making
a difference in their community. Previous experience as a trustee
and/or director and in accessing and managing resources is
also highly desirable.
